In the first IndyCar Ratings Index of 2023, the findings are likely to change dramatically from race to race as the formula hones in on what rating each driver and team are realistically aiming toward.

So far no drivers have finished in the top five in every race they've run, and some drivers hampered by DNFs from accidents or mechanical failures are still yet to find their true pace. By the time the Indianapolis 500 roles around we'll have a clearer picture of who has the best shot at winning a championship in 2023.

For now, the IRI favors Marcus Ericsson and Alex Palou, two drivers at Chip Ganassi Racing who have finished in the top ten in all three races this season and in the top five twice.
