R.C. Enerson, a one-time Indy 500 entrant, is in line for what would be the 34th entry into this year's Indianapolis 500, according to reports from Marshall Pruett at Racer.

Neil and R.C. Enerson, a father and son duo who own a Dallara DW12 chassis, are reportedly in talks with Abel Motorsports, an Indy NXT team, and Chevrolet to enter a car in the race.

The entry would push the total number of entrants to 34, one above the 33 that qualify for the Greatest Spectacle in Racing. That would require a process know to fans as "Bump Day," which in recent years required any car qualifying 31st or slower on Saturday of qualifying weekend to make at least one qualifying attempt during a special session on Sunday, with anyone 34th or lower in the session eliminated.

In 2019, former Formula One world champion Fernando Alonso was eliminated during the last row shootout, along with current IndyCar points leader Pato O'Ward. 2022 IndyCar champion Will Power nearly missed the race in 2021, qualifying 32nd in that year's last row shootout — which also eliminated Enerson.

The probable 34 car entry list would include 17 Chevy entries, 17 Honda entries and nine former Indianapolis 500 winners.

Correction: this article previously misstated the number of times Enerson has attempted the Indianapolis 500.
